Day 1 | From Paro to Thimphu

Taking our flight from Dhaka, we will arrive at the Paro airport within just about an hour. Throughout our journey we will enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalaya Mountains, including the sacred Jumolhari and Jichu Drake peaks in Bhutan. On arrival we will be greeted by our representatives and transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

Thimphu is a small, charming capital city, probably the smallest capital in the world, resting in the heart of the Himalayas. It sits in its own valley fanning out from the river. The skyline hardly changes as new buildings are all constructed in traditional Bhutanese style. Though a small town, Thimphu is a charming place. Every shop is stacked with multiple products -from grocery to textiles to shoes and handicraft products. Increasing number of shops sell imported goods brought in from Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore because of Druk Air's connection to Bangkok. The town is also filled with bars selling all kinds of alcoholic drinks.

HANGING BRIDGE :

On the way to Thimphu, we will spend time on HANGING BRIDGE over PACHU river.

After check in, we will have lunch at the hotel. After lunch,

Chang Gangkha Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in the valley,

We may visit Nannery point to have a close view of  Thimphu Tashicho Dzong – The national parliament house and the king’s palace.

On our way back, we will pay a visit to Buddha Point, another place from where you can get a good overview of the Thimphu valley. It is again a short drive from the town. You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.

In the afternoon, we will have time to stroll down to the local market. Where we will find CLOCK TOWER and Weekend Market .   We will spend the overnight at Thimphu.

Day 2 | Thimphu  Punakha

After having breakfast, drive to Punakha (three hours’ drive). Punakha served as the capital of Bhutan until 1955. It is still the winter residence of Jekhenpo (Chief Abbot) and the monks of Thimphu.  The low altitude and temperate climate makes the valley one of the most fertile in Bhutan and allows two rice crops a year. On a clear day, there are splendid views of the distant Himalayas at Dochula Pass ( 3100m) on the way to Punakha from Thimphu. Check-in the hotel and have lunch.

After lunch,we will visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang.Punakha Dzong wasbuilt in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region. It is located strategically between the confluence of Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). The Dzong was damaged by an earthquake, fire, flood a number of times, and destroyed many historic documents. However, the Dzong has been fully restored to its original splendor by the present king.

At the afternoon drive to PARO and night stay.
